Damian Kindler est né à Melbourne, en Australie. Diplômé de l'université du Queen et de l'école de cinéma NYU, il a commencé sa carrière de scénariste par la série "Kung-fu : la légende continue" et ce pour trois saisons. Il passe ensuite à Psi Factor, série pour laquelle il finira par devenir producteur.
Aujourd'hui, il est à la fois producteur de Stargate SG-1 et scénariste sur SG-1 et son spin-off Stargate Atlantis.
